Hello James,
I'd like to add to what George has stated that QWST could wind up walking away with both USW and FRO. I presently view this as an even-up possibility, and one which I'd even like to see Annunziata of GBLX simply let be and accept the Billion Dollars in breakup fees.
USW? I never saw any compelling reasons behind that one, only reasons why they shouldn't. FRO? Waffled at first, and then saw some merit. It made more sense to me than USW, and I think that a more qualified, if not equally suitable, replacement can be had, as I mention below.
[[If I weren't such a trusting soul, this would sound to me like something straight out of Sun Tzu or one of Machiavelli's works.]]
At that point, GBLX should, in my opinion, move very quickly to pick up MFNX and ABOV - the latter recently tapped to be consumed by the former - before the newly combined MFNX structure becomes history, too.
The synergy and line-of-business alignment between these two were made to order, IMO. This, despite the differences which currently exist with respect to the sale of dark fiber by MFN and the other's not. Comments welcome.
