My position is going to be this: If it entertains me to do so, or the person who made the error annoys me even slightly, or ever has, or has ever reported me (!), I shall peremptorily report him/her to the Lab for exposure and ridicule, the more ridicule the better. When I make an error, on the other hand, I will make clear my agreement with this genteel protocol of yours; it would be most rude to take note of such an error in this civilized place. And it goes without saying that any time I make an error, the fault lies elsewhere than with me. I have not had my coffee, for example; or the usage has the sanction of being definition number nine in the OED.
