Buys Home Baked For Stock
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, June 17-Creative Gourmet Inc. (CRGI) acquired the Home Baked name, trademark, baking equipment, leaseholds and packaging supplies and a 14,000 square foot baking facility in Boca Raton, Fla. for $315,000 stock and assumption of debt.
The company said the customer base for the Home Baked product line includes K-Mart, Costco and Sam's Club.
As part of the transaction, the sellers have agreed to set and maintain a marketing and commerciall Web site.
"At its peak Home Baked sales were in excess of $20 million dollars," the company said.
Creative Gourmet, which makes speciality desserts for hotels, restaurant chains and stores said the acquisition will allow it to enter the retail and Internet markets.
Creative Gourment, Inc. announced that William J. Thome, ex-president and C.E.O. of a Hershey Foods subsidiary and ex-vice president/general manager of Sara Lee Foods, has agreed to join the Board of Directors of Creative Gourmet, Inc.
