Vader was part machine as a result of a defeat (from Obi-Wan) & from Palpatine revising him from the dead. So (obviously) the mediclorian count from his flesh (not the metal skin) still empowered him. I wonder, though, if as a result of the losing of his limbs did the lowering of his mediclorian count go down............Interesting.
