To me, saying "you should perhaps check your dictionary" in the middle of a post is miles away from clicking on one and discovering that it is sort of a reprimand which begins with a long quote from a dictionary and an insinuation that the first poster is a dunce of some sort, which is the way those posts always make me feel.
I guess this is more style than substance--the subtle nuances of written English--but I know there is a difference to me. I am quite sure that I looked in my dictionary and deliberately did not quote it to Michael in that way because I thought he might find it insulting, because all of this took place within the last hour or so, and my short-term memory is not that bad yet.
Now why is it that you went ha ha at the idea of men having sex with sheep? It makes perfect sense to me, particularly where there are (1) lots of sheep (2) young, horny men without regular sexual partners. If you do a search on askjeeves.com of "sex with sheep" you can certainly find lots of sites, although none of them is suitable for sharing here.
The jokes about sex with sheep at SI go all the way back to the first few months it was in operation, and have been quite ribald at times. I bet there is at least one man reading this who has had sex with one, although I do not expect him to come forward in this forum. Sex with sheep was such a happy subject at SI, in fact, that someone found and shared a site where you could purchase sheep blow-up dolls, for men who would LIKE to have sex with one, but are too shy or don't have any frolicking in their own neighborhoods. |
