<ONSL>

From JagNotes's "Rumors" section -

Jul 02 11:17am Onsale Inc.(ONSL)$18 11/16. Rumor that (AMZN) will make a $30 bid for company.

An intra-day chart for Friday shows that ONSL (stock price and volume) went up sharply at around 11:17 EST. It moved even higher just after noon. I wasn't watching CNBC but I will not be surprised if CNBC (or possibly the newswires) picked up coverage of the rumor around that time.

If the rumor would have been genuine, one would have expected ONSL's stock price to have started creeping up between 9:30 and 11:17 AM EST. It didn't.. My theory is that an individual started the rumor. Since he/she could not pick up a million shares, the share price did not move up. Once this person took a full position, a call was made to JagNotes who promptly put it up in their rumors section. This was followed by a huge spike caused by daytraders jumping on ONSL.

From the JagNotes disclaimer (they make you read it before you enter the rumors section -

Rumors are common on Wall Street. Sometimes, the rumors that are circulated are correct, however, the majority are not. Day traders and investors lose and make money every day by trading on rumors! The fact is that rumors move equities!

Throughout the day, brokers and traders from all over call JAG Notes to let us know what is being heard on the street about different stocks. Now you can hear the latest word that these brokers and traders pass along to us on the JAG Notes.com Rumor Page! As soon as we receive this information, we post it so you can be more informed!

JAG Notes does not recommend the purchase or sale of any security that it reports on, and the information on the JAG Notes Rumor Page is solely intended to keep the active trader and investor informed about what is being heard on the street. JAG Notes is not acting in any way to influence the purchase or sale of any security, and is not liable for any losses or damages, monetary or otherwise, that result from the content in the Rumor Room. JAG Notes recommends that you consult with a broker before any trade.
