You say the only direct competitor to vrty that you know of is Fulcrum. i believe there are other players, including Excalibur from Britain. i also believe that people at vrty consider microsoft as their only real competitor, but don't think that they can produce a product of the quality of search 97 in a short period of time. this is a hard problem that takes years to get right... has the competition been discussed in detail on this forum in the past (i'm only looking at the past week) -Brent
