<<Osha at Merrill is probably one of the best. He doesn't have much of a track record because he worked under Kurlak, but he was pounding the table on GALT very early this year and he did make some excellent calls in PMCS last year. >>

ROTLMAO!!!! Thank god for the morons at Merill! Good call on PMCS? They DOWNGRADED in October at $27 (pre split!) (That's when we doubled down on our pmcs and sadly we sold a lot of the double down portion in early 1999) They've both falsely talked about seasonality when PMCS doesn't have specific seasonality. Gotta disagree with your assessment of analyst skills there.

I also think David "Wrong" at Needham has been wrong more than a few times. (See also his consistent "sell" rating on PMCS.)

Elias is pretty good and is now at Thom Weasel partners.

While I agree that most of the buy side institutional investment community can't distinguish an ATM chip from a poker chip, many of these semiconductor analysts are now distinguishing communications IC companies from PC IC companies. We happen to like the WAN communications IC companies more than the LAN oriented communication IC companies since it seems to us that product cycles are longer and design wins more stable. Hence our position in VTSS.

I'm still worried (hopeful) about the street reaction to a decline in reported backlog coming up this quarter due to the shift in Lucent business to contract manufacturers. I realize that fundamentally it's the same visibility, but I worry about the reaction. That's we don't have a full VYSS position yet.
