<gmgc - i've followed them since the interactive tv days (or fiasco) voice interface sounds great and everyone from ibm to lucent work on that problem if gmgc actually gets a product out there in a large installed base then that's the proof to me

Yup. That pretty well sums it up for everyone. If General Magic were an IPO, they'd be hot. As it is, they have too much history. Too many "could've been great" products.
Still, they have some interesting agreements to bring a voice interface to quicken.com which should be coming to market in the next 6 weeks, joint marketing effort with Excite@Home to integrate their new myTalk product (http://www.mytalk.com/), a reselling agreement with BellSouth for Portico, and they will be the voice ingredient to Wireless Knowledge (joint venture between Microsoft and Qualcomm) for their coming product Revolv. They also have a new product called Kenya that has been testing with eBay to alert users when a bid or sale needs attention.
But, you're right. They have no meaningful subscriber base although myTalk seems to have generated over 35,000 users since it's release on 6/15 and that figure is old. Who knows how many they have now.
Also, Excite has taken a 6 million dollar equity investment, joining Microsoft who invested last year and paid a big royalty to incorporate GM's mobile agent technology into Win NT. The mobile agent is the foundation of Kenya.
Regardless, I can see why you say, "right now i don't have much faith". The company has a lot to prove, but it's certainly got some amazing potential. Thanks for taking time out to respond.
