You are quite right and I should have refined or qualified my generality. "Rational greed" and "rational or enlightened self-interest" are correct. Yet, I still maintain that if you take any example of human endeavor and strip away all the layers, at the core you will discover the motivation for an action is based either on fear or greed or a combination of the two.
