I too use other charts to keep a closer tab on direction. I have been using Wall Street Analyst for 3 years and really have got used to using the 4,9 and 18 day 3 line moving average, MACD, and volume. Vectorvest's new chart system is good though and I have it set up for 3 line expo. too.
I have used the stinky stocks to sell short in the past and did pretty well. My DLJ account showed a covered stock in my margin account for months and I had a time getting it out so this last flat line trend period I did not short any. I do prefer the 3 letter stocks so I can put insurance on each issue. ( Stops)
I maintain a list of turn around candidates that are recovering and have bought some cmh and dpl from that list.

A while back I was looking at the Sector stocks and found EWM JOF, TWN, ROC as leading the sector for mutual funds (closed end) and bought some of each. They have and are still doing great.

Regards,
Gary
