My father smoked cigars and the odor tends to hang around in the upholstery and draperies. I disliked it.

On the other hand, I have smelled cigar and pipe smoke that were not unpleasant. And, as I 'fessed up, I've enjoyed some very good cigars myself. (It really used to throw the guys 20 years ago before women started to show up all over the place with cigars. Now it's too "ordinary" to bother.)
