So what you are saying that we (West) would be even more vulnerable to Russians, Azeri/Caucaus,Arab pressures?

Of course!! Where have you been?? Haven't we been held hostage to Persian Gulf politics for decades now??

And that is why the US and NATO have been so assertive about cozying up to Azerbijian and Georgia. Combining that with the Baltic States we're seeing a big chess game being played out for influence in the region.

I've always been in favor of an agressive alternative fuels program. It is about national security and reducing our economic risks to events overseas.

And let's not forget... just as we need to maintain stability in those regions to obtain that energy resource, they need to maintain order so they can profit from producing and exporting it.

It's a two way street.
