re: books I'm about halfway through When Giants Stumble now. An interesting premise - business histories of companies that had it good then shot themselves in the foot with things that looked like a good idea at the time. And the author, Robert Sobel, makes it a point to avoid rehashing the stories you already know, New Coke, the Edsel, ... I am learning a lot of business history, but its missing something I can't place. It tends to read like a textbook because the author just has a hard time bringing alive the people involved.
