"Downside" due to the growth of Celeron? If you hadn't noticed, Celeron also makes a profit, although AMD-supporters (as well as VIA) will vehemently disagree. If Celeron keeps growing, so will Intel's profits, even if the margins are thin. Volumes, volumes, volumes.

The only concern is the real possibility that Celeron will displace Pentium III sales. So far, I haven't seen anything which would suggest that Pentium III sales have dwindled. They might not see the same growth as Celeron, but as long as they keep growing, it's a win for Intel.
