Patrick and Thread,
I think this list is great, and probably as we go forward we'll think of other columns of data we want to add.

Regarding the portfolio...I originally wanted to assign weightings based on market cap vs. overall portfolio market cap. However, this is probably not the best way to do this, because it would be skewed towards too few stocks. For example, PCLN has over 40% of the total market cap of the entire portfolio.

The other thing I wanted to do was assign weightings based on the PA/VV stake. For some companies this figure is easy, for example, we know that GNET is 34%. However, for many companies, this data will take some digging and analysis of the SEC filings. I think its a good project for some folks who are particularly good at sifting through these filings. It will probably take a several days until this is complete. Any volunteers?

In the meantime, I wanted to go ahead a put together a portfolio that is based on 7/2/99 close pricings and starts on Tuesday. We can always add another portfolio as soon as we get the data relative to PA/VV stake.

My next post will explain how I assigned the weightings to my proposed Wired World port.
