RE: <The only concern is the real possibility that Celeron will displace Pentium III sales. So far, I haven't seen anything which would suggest that Pentium III sales have dwindled.>

It is true that there is no reliable data for the overall market available yet. I believe that AMD units are going from 4.4M in Q1 to 3.7M in Q2 and at the same time Cyrix has dumped something like 2M units into the market during Q2. (Does anyone know how to compare total Cyrix shipments between Q1 and Q2?) There was some data a few days ago on the retail market showing that Celeron is growing fast while PII/III is about flat. Of course, that is a small part of the market.

The fact that Intel didn't preannounce must say that total profit must be close to expectation for Q2. No matter what Via does I would expect that there won't be many Cyrix CPUs on the market in Q3 although they might work some deal that would get NSM's fab cranking again with the parts hitting late Q3. Of course AMD has some 2.3M units that they may dump. I expect that Intel will do fine in Q2 and probably Q3. Q4 is too far away to predict.
