Maybe. Given the choice, I am sure Bezos would rather pay the interest if it meant that the net stock market had cooled and his competitors were losing easy access to capital. Barnes and Noble online was able to raise 450 million not because of its success but because of Amazon's.

In any event, it is not like all the noteholders will convert if the stock spikes up above the conversion price.
