Hey Kent, do not entirely give up on small caps. I agree one needs to diversify ones portfolio, but to entirely give up on a sector (especially small caps) is giving up on a sector which may provide wonderful returns. According to Peter Lynch's book, begin with companies in industries in which you are familiar. Also, look for value in companies where others for whatever reason cannot see it. Here's one suggestion for you. (And I urge you to do your own due diligence.) CFCI finance.yahoo.com A small cap company here in suburban Chicago. A P/E of 14.86 and projected growth of 15-20% over the next several years. Wall Street has yet to see the potential of this specialty chemicals firm. And I'm sure there are dozens of other such small cap firms. When it comes to large cap firms (not that there's anything wrong in investing in some of them) everybody knows what's going on with such firms. Very little inefficiency. But the small caps. Many are not followed closely. If you can find the diamond in the rough before others do, the chance for gains are immense. Just takes a bit more work. Please do not give up on the small caps. A lot of potential exists if you do your homework. And I'll be the first to admit, I didn't do as much homework with Adflex as I should have. Good luck Kent.
