Calgary Herald article: 3 to 5 new clinic by years end promised Glen Gimbel.

Well that's part of an article written by business writer Barry Nelson in yesterday's July 4th edition, in the front of the business section. Good balance of critic and optimistic outlook. Go check it out.

Barry Nelson writes
- lists competitors, competition, lower fees
- growth thru new clinics 3-5 by year end, forecast 5 per year after
- growth thru procedure volumes of annual 50-100% next few years
- optimize existing clinic's processess and added marketing
- a brief history and look at some individuals at Gimbel
- "involves the use of Laser In Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK)"
- setup in Canada and other countries, cost $800k-1M (CDN? or USD?) per new clinic, shared by limited partnership of 51% Gimbel and 49% JV local doctors
- info on competitors LZR (The Laser Centre) and Lasik Vision Corp, their market cap, revenue and red ink
- industry growing at 100% annually according to Glen Gimbel for next few years
- estimates laser vision correction will be 4 times the size of contact lens market
- Glen Gimbel predicts "20 per cent growth in procedure volumes and revenues quarterly". I assum this applies to GBV. He concludes "still early in the cycle in this business."
