According to several posters on various threads, there is no more stock available for shorting.
You keep bringing this up, but I think you make way, way too much of it. I have found myself unable to participate in many of the best shorting opportunities ever, because I was unable to get a borrow.
Isn't it possible, just possible mind you, that someone reading the Barron's article, but not having access to the wisdom <cough, cough> of the Internet chat boards, might sell some or all of their long positions?
As for the long term view, so WAVX provides some value-added service for their 25%/40%/50%/whatever revenue cut as opposed to the 2-3% for VISA/MC. But 22%? If nothing else, that sure leaves a whole lot of room for the big boys to undercut them. Even if they might have to take a short-term loss on the operation to do it, they can afford it a lot better than Wave can. |
