I am told it was. I had - have - the most miserable combo of gut virus and migraine. I was gonna find a hill last evening and see the Shoreline fireworks (Mountain View, 85 at 101, maybe those were the Palo Alto ones you saw?) but plan B involved my bed.

But two evenings ago I walked to the spot in our neighborhood where the trees part and show the Southern horizon. I watched Gamma Normae just barely clear the redwoods. I think that is the most southerly star visible from the valley floor. If I got onto the south side of the ridge, above Saratoga - I might get another two degrees of visible sky.
