"Incidentally, the taxpayers didn't pay for my higher education. I did."

You had help, you just don't know it.

If you attended a private college/university the odds are great that it has some sort of endowment that subsidizes student tuition.

Yale University has an endowment that is worth billions $$.
Without it, the students would probably have to pay $150,000 a year tuition.

By the way, the profits on most endowments are tax free, so the tax payers did subsidize your college education a little bit. But don't worry I won't ask for my money back.
