S3 Becomes First Major Graphics Acceleration Company to Receive ISO 9001 Quality Certification

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- March 6, 1997 -- S3r Incorporated (Nasdaq: SIII), the world's largest supplier of graphics, video and multimedia accelerators1, announced today that it has achieved industry-first ISO 9001 quality certification for the design and marketing of multimedia accelerators. The most widely recognized international certification of system quality, the ISO 9001 certification provides S3's global customers with assurance that its products adhere to the most stringent and comprehensive quality management standards.

ISO 9001 Certification
ISO 9001 is one in a series of three international standards dealing with quality systems that can be used for external quality assurance purposes. As a model for quality assurance in design/development, manufacturing, testing installation and servicing, it is the most comprehensive level of certification in the internationally recognized ISO 9000 family.
Effective February 5, 1997, S3's ISO 9001 registration was granted by SGS International Registration Services -- second only to the British Standards Institute in the number of worldwide registrations.
