Chi-X, you and others do not understand the essence of
open access argument.

DSL is an open access because even my local ISP offers it from
BellAtlantic and the the first screen after you log-in is my
local ISP's home page, not BellAtlantic's
.

AOL and all local ISPs can offer their member with a fee because
they have to pay 'rental' to Bells, but they are not forced
to log-in their member with Bells home page.

ATT wants AOL and others to pay 'rental' plus the
log-in screen must be ATHM's screen
!

Since the first screen is vitally important to eyeball count, do
you want to rent a store for business but your front door is required
to carry the store owner's ads, not yours?

Open Access means 'I pay you a reasonable rental but I do my business, after all, it is not a free ride on the pipe.
for my business, not yours'.
