Wayne,
I used to love driving by Belmont when I was a kid. The back of the track was like being out in the boonies. Made you forget that you were in New York City side of Nassau county. Up until the late 50s early 60s there was a fair size farm on Hempstead Turnpike not far from there. It was turned into a school and shopping center. Great Racetrack.
