redwood--basically I agree with you philosophically, however on this one, there is some good solid research in Europe, though not quite the numbers that the FDA usually requires for "proof". One study reported in Newsweek was of a double blind placebo, disipramine and SAMe application and SAMe was as good as the disipramine and hugely better then placebo. In a study at UC Irvine Med School, SAMe was used to treat severe depressives and was effective in 62% of cases and disipramine only in 50% of cases. So there is more then the usual research on this one then done on other supplements. Myron
