Thread: Here's some competitive info. Do any of the WINR sites allow us to bet on NFL games? Seems this would be a big revenue producer.

British Online Bookmaker Launches NFL Betting By Paul Majendie

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's first online tax-free betting service Tuesday launched into National Football League betting in the United States.

''We see the American market as one which will enjoy the security of betting with a fully regulated British licensing company,'' said Mark Blandford, managing director of NetBet (UK) Plc.

''We expect to extend the service even further by offering lines on the MLB (Major League Baseball) in the next few weeks,'' he said of the Internet company that can be found on www.sportingbet.com.

''The worldwide television coverage of American sports continues to expand but we see considerable interest in the Far East and the American expatriate market all around the world,'' he told Reuters in an interview.

After 14 years as a British bookmaker, Blandford sold his six mainland shops, moved to the Channel island of Alderney off France and now attracts more than 2,000 customers worldwide in 70 countries from Australia to Zimbabwe.

Blandford faced tough questioning from the offshore island authorities before they would grant him a license. They were eager to ensure there was no danger of money-laundering or any criminal involvement.

''There have been no headaches at all -- no dirty money, '' he said. Debt-collecting is not a problem either. ''Betting is on deposit so there is no credit involved.''

He believes he offers rewarding net profits for punters surfing for value -- they pay no betting tax and his overheads are low enough for him to be competitive.

Feedback is positive from customers who range from British horse racing fans saving nine percent on their winnings and football fans on the island of Cyprus who would locally have to pay up to 25 percent in betting tax.

Blandford expects the customer basis to shift now.

''The British are leading as we have done European sports for nine months but we now expect to see a change in the ratio with a much heavier bias to North America,'' he said.

With the Internet now shrinking the world truly into a global village, he said: ''The next area we are looking at for expansion is greater coverage of horse racing on an international basis.''
