Ahhh there in lies the truth... Answer: Nothing! It's not like if you and I sold our gold to buy treasuries, then we would be shooting ourself in the foot. The BOE as cromlech of currency & treasuries, can move the monetary supply to absorb any losses. Anyway, they sold at $261.20, it's the buyers that are getting shot in the foot. Next time maybe less will bid? How's the saying go:burn me once, shame on you; burn me twice, shame on me

PPS: As I stated before, while many said that Swiss you'd never sell, it's a done deal.
