Joe Osha doesn't seem to share "Merced anxiety" with many of this threads participants. <<Over the longer term, little has changed insofar as our server and workstation MPU growth thesis is concerned. Intel is progressing towards volume introduction of the Merced, the first implementation of the IA-64 instruction set, in mid-2000. We continue to believe that IA-64 will allow Intel to dominate the high-end server market to the extent that the company has already won in the PC market, and expect server and workstation MPU growth to be the growth driver for the company for the next 3-4 years. >>
