She must want something from the top shelf, but refuses to tell me what. Hmmm. Assumes innate intelligence of some form. To "want something." Something of a quantum leap I think. Rather, Myers is simply expressing the instinctive need of all cats to tree themselves in such a way that one must go through some horrendous rigamarole to get them down. If I do not miss my guess, you will soon be graced with a plaintive kitty wail.
