You cannot legislate belief. You can legislate the structure of religion. Several regions of the world have passed from Christian to Muslim hands, and back again, and forth again. The cultural inhabitants have simultaineously shown devout loyalty to fight for their nation under what ever religeous banner happened to be established. They served their religion as their nation with patriotism. What did they believe...the usual range of things you find in any population large enough to call it self a nation.

There is a moral agenda with this new wave of legislation, no doubt. There is a counter agenda of the immoral to stop it. There is also a range of stakeholding groups bolstering and bandwagoning on both sides of the issue. I trust neither but given the simple choice of supporting morality vs its apponents, I have to go with morality.
