music files can be stored unplayable in a vast library on your 20 Gig hard drive (enough for 5000 songs)

Boy that sounds wonderful. Buying 20Gigs of songs that can't be played on my computer. Har Har, How stupid is that ? I create a CF full of music that I can't let anyone else borrow and listen to.

This sounds totally cool to me

You are warped. If I get MP3 player for my car I can't play the CF 'mixes' I made earlier that day for my portable MP3 player. You can't even email yourself music to play on your computer at work.

What if your MP3 player gets stolen or breaks. You have to throw out all your CF 'mixes' because you can't play them on a different player.

This whole system sounds totally stupid and will guarantee the failure of MP3 as a cheap form of portable music. If you thought about it for one second you would agree.
