I haven't seen one for ten years, but do you remember Cute Stores? The ones that sold pillowy unicorns and hearts and rainbows? Great gobs of pastel and lace and general fru-fru?
The only way an American male was going to be found in one of tohse was
1) in the company of a serious babe on a low-numbered date,
2) a tad light in the loafers,
3) on a bid to enter into a particularly exclusive fraternity, or
4) to purchase a practical gift joke for a fellow athlete.

I knew a fellow who once and briefly dated a not-sa-young lady who FURNISHED her bedroom out of one of those stores. He referred to the place as a Toxic Cute Dump.
