Skeeter, I hear you. I just wanted to see if the analyst they were quoting was realistic or an abject POS. He was realistic.

Can they have a GM of 24% and a gross unit cost of 3.50 and still loose $? Sure. Depends on units and ASP's, but it's definitely possible.

In terms of POS touts on MU's unit cost, who was the clown last quarter who said their unit costs were something like $3.50-4.50?

I think CBS MArketwatch ran it...hang on...it was so ridiculous it's worth highlighting...okay, 5-7-99:

Shares of Micron Technology (MU: news, msgs), a major player in the DRAM business gained 5/8 to 39 1/16. Prudential Securities said in a weekly technology report that DRAM prices still are under pressure. The the [sic] cost per device is between $3.50 to $4, with potential to move lower between $2.50 to $3. Prudential also said the first-tier DRAM suppliers are profitable.

cbs.marketwatch.com

That's just too funny.

And yet, you known if the circus troupe that came up with those numbers puts out something tomorrow equally accurate, it'll go up.

Good trading,

Tom
