The right to bear arms is the right to protect oneself or one's family from either individuals or governments that attempt to deny basic rights/freedoms, not the right to go hunting. Of course, one of the government's main responsibilities (governments do have a role)in a free society as outlined by our founding fathers is to protect the freedoms of individuals when such freedoms are violated by other individuals or foreign states. But when it is impossible for the government to be there when the criminal is about to harm others, then the most powerful handgun in the world will do the job. Or if you prefer, a hand grenade. Either will do the job sufficiently.
