The last time I was in Maui I tried snorkelling for the first time - went WAY out on catamaaran...followed group down ladder, put face in water and discovered much to my amazement my heart was beating so fast it was almost propelling me through the water. I was shocked to find myself the equivalent of standing on the edge of a 75-storey building looking down..it was so clear.

What I couldn't fathom however was the "Seahunt"-type echoes of the deep resounding in my ears and I panicked big time.

In my desperation to grovel back to the boat, I used one hand to fumble with my mask (so I could see) and the other hand to blindly search for the boat's ladder..all the while fighting the swells which eventually managed to remove my bikini top! Needless to say, it was probably one of life's most embarrassing moments for me...struggling to get back up the ladder with shoes way too big and gasping for air. How undignified to be greeted by the "other" non-snorkellers that way!

(could we go somewhere else?) (ggg>

Edit: that is, if I ever get on the list!!!
