At the request of my mother I also called county sheriff, he also said nothing could be done because they "could get away with near anything". Then shame on you and shame on your sheriff. Next time something like this occurs call the post "Provost Marshal" and file a formal complaint. They HAVE TO RESPOND to a civilian complaint. If they don't, it's a simple matter of taking it up the chain of command until you get satisfaction, even if that includes calling your congressman/woman. If these soldiers/marines were romping around where they shouldn't have been, their leadership should be disciplined for not maintain control over their activities. The fact that one of my closest associates is a retired Army CID warrant officer with two tours in 'Nam under his belt (and those tours were not spent as a mere REMF), I'm pretty cognizant of the procedures for civilians filing complaints and how the military investigates them. Soldiers are not angels and they screw up like anyone else. Some of them get a little cocky and take advantage of their perceived self-importance. Some of them let their gung-ho or huaah! attitude get the best of them. That is why they must be reported to the proper military and political authorities, especially when your local authorities just shrug their shoulders. But that doesn't make them all cold-blooded killers or stormtroopers for the New World Order, Richard. IMO, you need to do some deep soul-searching before you decide to ramble off your conspiratorial anti-military BS again. If you worked for a military contractor, then you should be fully aware of how a civilian makes a complaint through military channels. Contractors do it all the time. Regards, Ron
