Sergio--The drug was introduced by an Italian Pharmaceutical company many years ago. They were without the will or money to go through the US FDA process, so SAMe stayed in Europe until GNC and Pharmavite brought it over. Here is a quote from Newsweek: "SAMe(known formally as S-adenosylmethionine)is not an herb or a hormone. It's a molecule that all living cells, including our own, produce constantly." And again, earlier in the article: "The Food and Drug Administration has not rigorously evaluated SAMe, let alone approved it. (Federal law permits the unregulated sale of naturally occurring substances as long as marketers avoid therapeutic claims.)"

So there you have it Sergio. Serious DD should be done before taking this new fad drug. And hopefully that process can be reported here on this thread. Myron
