<There is no more risk in genetically modified foods than there is in unmodified food, less in some cases where the use of pesticides is less.>

How do we know??? What if the genetic modification includes a modified protein thats just a tad harder for certain people to digest... say 10% of the population?? The tests done now won't pick it up, and it can take years for these things to pop up, especially in small segments of the population. Hormones is meat & milk, are now linked to problems in certain people...how many years has that taken, and it still isn't widely understood exactly whats going on... hell "science" couldn't prove a link between cancer and cigarettes for how long?

Unfortunately, although you [and the bioindustry] may be right, the rest of the U.S. policy isn't giving the Europeans much to feel warm and fuzzy about. The AG department has been trying to force hormone laden beef on the Europeans for 20 years saying it's safe... in the meantime CNN reports obesity in the U.S. is soaring... and the German tourist walk down Michigan avenue gasping in wonder why all these Chicagoans are so damn big? Duhh! How do you think they'll vote when they go home? Anyway, how are you going to prove it's safe, and why should they believe it until you do? You can't, so they don't want it. Unfortunately in this country if you can't prove it ISN'T safe, it ends up on your table! Enjoy your dinner. :)
