levy and Sarkie:

For what it's worth, here is what I know about Wailea hotels/condos

Renaissance: (I believe this is the place next to the Grande that you will look into, levy. It is quite expensive, $350/night or so, but very nice, and on a gorgeous beach.

Wailea Outrigger (formerly Wailea Astin, where I will be staying in August). This hotel has the advantage of being on the ocean, and being toward the lower scale on rates. Ocean view rooms from around $200 in a travel package. The shore is rocky, but I believe it is an easy walk to gorgeous beaches.

Outrigger Palms. This is a nice-looking condo complex with units from $200. Distant ocean view from inland location, I believe.

Ekahi condo's. Units from $200. No ocean view, but easy 5-minute walk to gorgeous beach.

Hope this helps. Do your own DD. <g>
