Nomura Research Institute Selects TSI
Software's Mercator for S.W.I.F.T. Integration

WILTON, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 6, 1999--
Mercator EAI Software Integrates Securities Settlement System
with S.W.I.F.T. World Wide Financial Network
TSI International Software Ltd. [TSFW-news], the leading
provider of comprehensive enterprise application integration (EAI) and
eBusiness integration software, today announced that Nomura Research
Institute, Ltd. (NRI), Japan's largest technology think-tank and one
of the country's largest systems integrators, has successfully
integrated the propriety foreign equity settlement system with the
S.W.I.F.T. financial network for a major Japanese securities company
using TSI Software's Mercator EAI software.
Using Mercator, NRI has implemented an adaptable, highly
maintainable enterprise integration environment that provides seamless
interfaces supporting high-volume transaction processing between the
client-server settlement system and the S.W.I.F.T. network.
Implementation of the Mercator EAI solution for S.W.I.F.T. integration
took less than three months and required no custom programs to be
written for data transformation. NRI has several plans to integrate
other client applications with the S.W.I.F.T. network. Mercator will
provide NRI's client substantial time and cost savings and reduce
implementation cycle on for the future integration projects compared
to traditional hard-coded integration approaches.
"Our goal was to select a proven, scaleable EAI software product
that would not only satisfy our S.W.I.F.T. integration requirements,
but would also be easy and inexpensive to upgrade and maintain
throughout the life of the product. Mercator's rich transaction
routing and transformation capabilities, it's ability to handle the
complexities of S.W.I.F.T. messages without programming, and its
adaptability to all of the popular systems for message transport, made
it far and away the best choice," said Mr. Masayuki Okamura, General
Manager of Securities Systems Department, Nomura Research Institute.
A unique feature of Mercator is its incorporation of pre-built,
semantically correct definitions of all S.W.I.F.T. messages, as
opposed to hard-coded message libraries. With Mercator, changes in
message or application formats can be implemented in a fraction of the
time required when compared to using hard-coded libraries. In
addition, Mercator assures creation of valid S.W.I.F.T. messages, a
major benefit when implementing Straight Through Processing (STP)
between S.W.I.F.T. member institutions.
"NRI's development of Mercator-based integration services for the
financial market is strong endorsement of Mercator's capabilities,"
said John Hanger, vice president of product marketing for TSI
Software. "Large financial institutions are looking for comprehensive
integration solutions that not only reduce their up-front costs, but
scale to any volume requirements and can be adapted to any technical
infrastructure. Mercator meets these stringent requirements and more."
For their client's propriety foreign equity system, NRI developed
the overall system architecture and the user application, and Nihon
Unisys, Ltd., a leading IT provider in Japan and a partner of Mitsui &
Co., Japan's largest general trading company, integrated the two with
support from NRI. Mitsui is the distributor of TSI Software's Mercator
products in Japan and Asia.
In addition to providing EAI solutions for the ERP and financial
services markets, Mercator has become the centerpiece of end-to-end
integration solutions across many other industries, including banking,
health care, insurance, retail, manufacturing, chemicals, and
transportation.
