(COMTEX) B: DIGITAL BIOMETRICS ANNOUNCES LOS ANGELES COUNTY ORDER FOR B: DIGITAL BIOMETRICS ANNOUNCES LOS ANGELES COUNTY ORDER FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGE CAPTURE SYSTEMS MINNETONKA, Minn., July 7, 1999 -- PRNewswire/ -- Digital Biometrics, Inc. (Nasdaq: DBII), a Minnetonka, Minn.-based supplier of identification systems and related systems integration services, announced today the order of 60 photographic image capture stations for Los Angeles County. These units will be used to capture and transmit "mug shot" photographs. This order will complete the photo capture installation for the Los Angeles County installed base of TENPRINTER systems that previously were not equipped with this feature, including all municipal and superior courts lock-ups. This enhancement, which permits complete bookings when prisoners are remanded to court, will expedite processing into the Los Angeles County Jail. With this order, Los Angeles County will have a single integrated system for capturing fingerprints, mug shots, and "scars, marks and tattoos" images, making the booking process quicker and more efficient. Incorporating photo capture through the DBI photographic imaging system with the TENPRINTER allows for the photographic image to be captured either before or after the fingerprint process. All captured images are stored as separate records, but linked by a common user-defined identifier. This streamlined operation insures that law enforcement and other organizations get high quality images for both photos and fingerprints. Jim Granger, DBI's president and CEO, said, "We are pleased to announce this add-on business with a major customer. The order is valued at more than $1 million. We anticipate installation during the company's fiscal year 2000, which begins on October 1, 1999." Digital Biometrics is a provider of biometric identification systems and related server-based systems and systems integration services. DBI is a leading supplier of computer-based fingerprint capture products forlaw enforcement and commercial applications.
