I am not convinced that sale of handset division makes a lot of sense unless it's part of a strategic move. First, it would have to generate a "boat load of money" that can be used for something really worthwhile. Speculating on a buyout of palm would not be assured; unless the buyout were already in the works. A chip deal would have to be part of the bargain; the company cannot afford to sell another division without an assured chip deal either with Siemens or one of the big three handset manufacturers, who has to have assured deal if handset division sold.
