The Novell Unified Field Theory (or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Da Bom):
The big picture has come into view at last, and here is my hypothesis:
Identix, through Identicator and the BioAPI alliance, is working with Novell in implementing its Single Sign-On option for its Secure Authentication Services in the new NDS system Novell is introducing today. IBM and Compaq, also part of the BioAPI alliance, are partnered with Novell. Entrust technology is being used by Novell and IDX.
Novell has innumerable beta site testers for its new directory system. About 100 testers of a larger group are trying out the biometric single sign-on system with software (BioLogon 2.0) provided by IDX and hardware probably provided by CPQ/IDT. Biometric beta testers include United Airlines, Ford Motor Company, and possibly Citibank and First Union.
When Novell announces today, it will bury IDX among a list of other partners. IDX will provide a conservative PR on the subject, and the stock will not gap up. In the next few days, Hambrecht and CS First Boston will initiate coverage with buys, and Lehman and others covering will upgrade. The stock will break through its 52 week high in the next two weeks and stay up there.
This post is worth a Wendell or a Wexler . . . we'll wait. |
