billserv.com, Inc. and UDP, Inc. Sign Three-Year Exclusive Agreement to Provide Electronic Billing to UDP Customers
Agreement Marks billserv.com's Entry Into Telecommunications Billing
SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 7, 1999-- billserv.com (OTC BB: BLLS), a leading electronic bill presentment and payment (EBPP) service bureau, today announced it has signed an exclusive agreement with UDP, Inc. that will enable UDP to offer electronic billing services to its customer base. UDP is a San Antonio-based data processing company that serves the needs of telephone companies, utility companies and long distance providers through a suite of services.
In addition to end user customer billing, UDP offers an array of billing solutions that include business to business billing for telephone company to telephone company (interconnection billing) and telephone company to long distance providers (carrier access billing). The new EBPP billing system will enable UDP to offer higher levels of customer service through Internet technology.
Under the agreement, billserv.com will be the exclusive provider of EBPP services to UDP. billserv.com will begin processing UDP's billing data following a brief implementation phase, scheduled to begin shortly. billserv.com's EBPP system will enable UDP to process and present customer bills and payments through any bill consolidator Website or Internet portal that partners with billserv.com.
''Competition in the telecommunications industry is at an all-time high, and electronic billing is an essential value-added service that will benefit our customer base,'' said Claud Gilmer, president of UDP, Inc. ''We chose billserv.com as our exclusive electronic billing provider because it has solid technology and a methodology that provides the benefits our customers are looking for.''
''billserv.com's agreement with UDP is a strategic move for us as it represents billserv.com's entry into the telecommunication industry - a market that has a lot to gain from EBPP based on the number of paper bills that are processed each month and the cost associated with those bills,'' said Michael Long, chairman and CEO of billserv.com. ''billserv.com is excited to be working with UDP, enabling it to provide its customers with the convenience of paperless, electronic billing, which will complement UDP's existing suite of services.''
