Agreed with Uncle Frank about CSCO T2K...

This is a stock that if you try to trade, it moves up so fast, you lose it unlrdd you buy in at a higher price.

I am a buy & holder for that reason... Actually, I like these companies..

1- MSFT... just getting started, entering the most productive pahse of it's history, with international sals to fuel them for years more & of course, MSN, which is finally taking off. I like Ballmer BTW.

2- Intel's dominance in chips, and move into networking. Server farms , I am not sure. Too bad, they have not made the move into DSP's, like Lucent & TI. Sigh. Still a good company

3- Cisco buildup of the Net. BTW, I have a friend at cisco, and he was teling me their whole Phone system is going to be Voice over IP Selsius (they own it) by October this year. Lots of potential for this gorilla, it's like MSFT at the release of Windows 3.1 !!!!

4- Sun MicroSystems (Wait ! You sun haters out there). While I think McNeely is a loud boor(moron), Ed Zander is a great CEO/President. The pre-eminent Unix server/storage vendor out there, getting squeezed by MSFT on bottom end, but killing Hp, IBM , SGI and other Unix vendors.
The Intel-Sun Merced deal might be good for them anyhow.

Good for diversification into a Microsoft no-show market, if one is a big owner of MSFT shares. Msft 1st, then Cisco, then maybe sun and the others..

5- EMC, storage, storage, storage, based on multi-vendor architecture.

6- I dislike IBM because of poor sales, accounting gimmickry & emphasis on services is only Good thing that can be said of this company. A mediocre company at best, in most of it's product lines, i.e. storage, servers, PC's, software...

7- Finally, Dell. The pre-eminent box vendor (and wall strett hates those now , don't they), with a KILLER E-business model, the Best non-white box PC's out there, the best , latest components (Because of JIT manufacturing), and a real Cash-King ( a la Amex).. With only 10% (or less) of the world market, a dreadfully wounded competitor (ComPaq), neww moves in e-business & storage & servers, a killer company. This free PC crap is not too much a threat I think, as the machines are woefully underpowered, and will not be able to run Win 2000, NT or anything else but Linux !.

Even then free PC's are not free, as you sign an ISP agreement.

Anyway, any thoughts Dear Threaders ?

take care
Jean
