Talisman's Sudan pipeline flowing - Calgary Sun, July 7
By CP

Talisman Energy Inc. has announced that the first oil has entered
the controversial Sudanese pipeline in which it holds a
one-quarter interest, and filling of the line is progressing well.

"The project is working," Talisman president Jim Buckee said in a
release yesterday. "This is another important milestone towards
realizing oil exports, and comes less than a year after taking our
interest in the project, well ahead of our expectations."

About 50 people protested at the Toronto Stock Exchange last
week against Talisman's involvement in the project, which the
demonstrators said is being used by Sudan's government to gain
funds to inflict "genocide" in southern Sudan.

Talisman replied that the group's view of the African country's
conflict is "simplistic" and that "development gives the option of
moving forward." Talisman shares traded yesterday at about $43,
up from a 52-week low of $22.
