I would think your children would be proud of you for perservering in a profession where you are savings lives, or restoring health.

Don't think you're alone in disliking your job. I meet few people these days who don't "hate" what they do. At least at the end of the day you can go home thinking you have helped another human being despite your travails; many don't have this.
