You're getting carried away again James.

1) Data privacy is a well covered topic. The design could allow users to encrypt data on the client side. You do not rely on the server to keep your data private. You trust a bank to hold all your money. Why can't you trust someone to hold your data?

2) Most commercial web sites are much more stable than the Windows machine that you use now for word processing. You can't make the argument that a user's own machine is more stable.
